NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Marist Women's Swimming and Diving team remained perfect in MAAC competitions with a 137-96 win over Iona on Tuesday night. Freshman Emily Hammang (Barrington, R.I.) swept the distance freestyle events, while senior captain Anna Sanner (Somerset, Pa.) took first in both diving events.

Marist opened the meet in strong fashion by winning the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:08.32. The team of Jamie Falco (North Haven, Conn.), Savannah Puca (Huntington, N.Y.), Kelsea Fortner (Mystic, Conn.) and Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.) bested the field for the Foxes.

Hammang followed up the relay win with her first victory of the meet in the 1,000-yard free. She swam a winning time of 10:41.93. Teammate Catherine Hartford (Merrick, N.Y.) followed in third place. Hammang would later finish first in the 500-yard free in a winning time of 5:15.30. Hartford finished the 500-yard event in second place.

The Red Foxes also had four other swimmers win individual events in the win over the Gaels. Freshman Jenell Walsh-Thomas (Medford, N.J.) took first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.24, while Falco swam a winning time of 24.85 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. Bujalski would add a win in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:10.86 and Ashley Papuga (Branford, Conn.) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:12.10.

In diving action, Sanner took first place in both the one and three-meter events in helping Marist to the win. Off the three-meter board Sanner posted a winning score of 243.53, before posting a dual meet personal best score of 250.58 in winning the one-meter event.

Following Tuesday's win, Marist improves to 3-1 on the season overall and 3-0 in MAAC meets. Marist will now be off until December 1 when it takes on Loyola, Niagara and Delaware in Baltimore. The two day event will kick-off at 5:00 p.m. on the first.
