Final Stats
Marist head coach Matt Brady
In the first half, we had considerable difficulty on both sides of the ball, particularly on defense. We allowed them to shoot 59% from the floor. We've been preaching to our team that we have to get better on defense.
In the second half, we did a better job of guarding against the pass and contesting the first shot.
We had a lot of contributions from a lot of guys - these two (James Smith and Jared Jordan) especially, but also from a number of others guys - Gerald Carter, Wilfred Benjamin and Kaylen Gregory.
I have a lot of concerns about the way our team is playing, and I will continue to have a lot of concerns until the end of the season. We have the potential to be a much better team.
On playing on national television in the Old Spice Classic:
We are 2-1, which is about what I expected. I thought that we could be 3-0 at this point in the season. The bottom line is, if we go down there and play at our level for 40 minutes against any of those teams, there's not a team there that can beat us.
This is a benchmark road trip for us. This is a historical achievement for our program. Our kids have worked so hard to put us in a position for people to be excited to see us.
On Jared Jordan:
I think we, the team, and the community take his assists for granted. He has this ability to find the open player on the outside or down low. His rebounding for a guard is sensational.
Jared Jordan
It was nice to have that stretch in the second half. I haven't been playing well and that run was fun, with the crowd and everything, for our first home game.
Florida Atlantic Head Coach Rex Walters
It's difficult. I'd like to have more bullets in the holster, more weapons. We played hard for 20 minutes. We had a scoring drought in the second half and Marist certainly had a lot to do with that.
Marist is talented. I think that they are going to have a good run. They have recruited kids that can pass and shoot. There's something to be said for kids who can pass, handle the ball, shoot and protect the basketball.
Ryan Stilphen, I need to recruit a Ryan Stilphen. He is a hard-nosed kid who wants to win. There is a difference between wanting to play and wanting to win. He wants to win.
