Recap |  Final Stats

Old Dominion Coach Blaine Taylor

"There's a couple ways you can look at this. I prefer to look at the opponent and compliment them. With all due respect to their performance, I would've liked to have seen a better performance on our side of the ledger. I think we remembered last year's game too much and forgot to play this year's game."

On Jared Jordan:

"He's constantly delving. He has some nice complementary players to go with him. Those guys keep you honest."

On his team's slow start in the second half:

"I told the kids, the first five minutes of the second half were important to establish ourselves, and the opposite happened. Give them credit. They're a veteran team and they knew when to pounce."

On not having senior forward Arnaud Dahi at full strength:

"He got sick. Yesterday, when we were in the airport, he was shivering. (He had) zero rebounds, he didn't have any energy or any spark."

Marist Head Coach Matt Brady

I have the most respect in the world for Blaine Taylor. I was an assistant at St. Joe's when he started building his program from the ground up and they've done as good a job as anybody. George Mason got a lot of publicity last year when they made their magical run. Blaine Taylor's program is right there with George Mason.

For us to come in and play a really sound game for 40 minutes, I am really proud of our kids and how they responded coming off of a pretty good high down in Orlando.

On the run to start the second half:

To be honest I don't know how it happened, I really don't. I think we made some shots and they got a little flustered.

I thought that tonight, with two minutes to go someone was going to be up one or two points.

On last year's game:

I think that they hit everything in the second half. I'll tell you, I've watched the tape twice in the last 24 hours. They were phenomenal in their building.

I can say with a straight face that as well as these two senior guards played, that's not the best that they are going to play this season.

They are going to play like this all year long because they have great character.

This Old Dominion team is probably the best team that had ever been in the building since I have been here. I feel real happy with my team, especially, but to be honest with you also with the student body. I think this is a galvanizing team, really think that this team can bring together this campus. When I got this job, I said that I wanted to make this the toughest ticket in town, and I think that we are working toward that.

Marist guard Jared Jordan

I was a little tired at the end. I knew coming into the game that they'd be pressuring me. They have some really quick guards. I was ready for it, but it is tiring.

On developing his handle:

A lot of people ask me that. It wasn't like a drill. I just always had a ball in my hand, something like a tennis ball, any kind of ball. I used to walk around school with a racquet ball. I used to drive my parents crazy dribbling around the house with a little plastic ball, just anything to get my hands on a ball and be working on moves.

On out-hustling the Monarchs:

That was one of the things that Coach Brady wrote on the board before the game. We had to not stop and to try to out work them. I guess we did.

Marist guard Will Whittington

On remembering last year's game against Old Dominion:

It was pretty fresh. It's the only time that we played on ESPN2. It was a big trip and it was a game that we were the most prepared for. I feel like today was the same game, just in a different place. Our shots fell tonight. It was a flip flop tonight.

On the trip to Florida:

Personally, I think that we should have taken three out of three. Our

coaches had us prepared for each game.

After winning those games, to come back here and not have a letdown, that's a really big statement for our team.
