POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's basketball team won its sixth consecutive game on Sunday, cruising to a 70-30 triumph over Manhattan at the McCann Center in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest. The Red Foxes held the Lady Jaspers to the lowest total of points a team has ever scored in a game involving two MAAC teams, according to the conference's 2006-07 media guide. The Red Foxes also set a McCann Center record for fewest points allowed to a Division I team, and tied their record for fewest points allowed to a Division I team at any site.

The Red Foxes (7-2 overall, 2-0 MAAC) never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 14-3 lead and holding a 14-point halftime edge. Marist opened the second half on a 17-3 run, and held the Lady Jaspers to just five points in the final 9:23. The Red Foxes outscored the Lady Jaspers by a 42-16 margin in the second half.

Red-shirt junior center Meg Dahlman (Spencerport, N.Y.) had the third double-double of her career, finishing with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Dahlman also had a career-high four assists, two blocked shots and a steal in just 22 minutes. She has blocked a shot in all nine of Marist's games this season. Freshman forward Rachele Fitz (Seven Hills, Ohio) came off the bench to lead all scorers with 12 points, and added six rebounds. It marked the sixth consecutive game Fitz has had at least a share of the team lead in scoring. Red-shirt sophomore guard Julianne Viani (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored 11, the fourth consecutive game she has scored in double digits.

Junior guard Courtney Kolesar (Concord, Ohio) came off the bench to score nine on three three-pointers. Senior point guard Lynzee Johnson (Xenia, Ohio) tied her career high with six points, and senior forward Kristin Hein (Howell, N.J.) finished with a season-high four points.

For Manhattan (4-5, 1-1), center Kelly Regan totaled a team-high eight points. It was the second time in the last three games the Red Foxes did not allow the opposition to have a double-digit scorer in a game. Marist held forward Caitlin Flood - Manhattan's leading scorer entering the game - scoreless.

The Red Foxes held the Lady Jaspers to just 22.0 percent shooting from the field, the lowest percentage from the field Marist has held a team to this season. Marist shot 45.5 percent from the field, including 57.7 percent (15-for-26) in the second half.

The previous McCann Center record for fewest points scored by a Division I team was 34, scored by the New Hampshire women's squad against the Red Foxes on Nov. 29, 2004. The other time Marist held a Division I team to 30 points in a game came in a 61-30 triumph at Rider on Jan. 3, 1995.

Marist has now won 16 consecutive at home and 18 straight at the McCann Center against MAAC opponents. The Red Foxes will not have another home game until Jan. 19, when they take on Saint Peter's. Marist's next game will be on Dec. 18 at Harvard at 7 p.m. The Red Foxes posted a 44-39 victory in last year's meeting between the teams.
