Marist Head Coach Brian Giorgis
On being able to utilize his bench frequently:
"It's nice to be able to get a lot of players involved, to get them experience, especially the younger kids; because they're hopefully going to be playing a lot of minutes in the future, and they need the game experience."
On his team's defense:
"We put good pressure on the guards, which really helped. But I thought today was the first time all year our post people really did a good job on their post people. When you can turn around at halftime and see that their two leading scorers (Caitlin Flood and Kelly Regan) have zero combined ... even though we didn't shoot well in the first half, the defense was as good as it could be."
On his team's homecourt advantage:
"You hope that people come into our house and that they are worried coming in because we've done well here. I know our kids feel really comfortable here. We have tremendous support. We get great crowds, and it's nice when you know that there are people cheering you on -- a lot of people cheering you on."
On the Red Foxes playing their next eight games away from home:
"Our kids enjoy the road, I think. They get along well, they like to see who their hotel roommates are and stuff like that. If we're going to have a lot of road games, it's nice that it's during the time period where we don't miss class."
Red-shirt sophomore guard Julianne Viani
On maintaining focus with a large lead:
"I think it's exciting because we're watching some of our other teammates in there. And we get excited when they do things good. We don't lose our focus, we just cheer everyone else on."
Red-shirt junior center Meg Dahlman
On the intensity of play in the post:
"It was physical, like any other team in the MAAC. That's what you have to expect going into games like that. You just have to hold your ground and communicate with your teammates. I think we did a really good job with interior defense today."
