Marist Head Coach Matt Brady
I thought that there defense did a great job of pushing us further from the basket than we wanted to be.
These two seniors (Jared Jordan and Will Whittington) helped us to get through some tough spots.
On Jared Jordan ankle:
The plan was to play him 25 to 26 minutes today. I guess I was off by four or five minutes. He only practiced for about 30 minutes yesterday. He's clearly not ready to play full tilt.
Marist Senior Guard Jared Jordan
On his ankle:
It's got a lot better in the last couple of days. I am just trying to get into playing shape. It felt better than I thought that it would when I started practicing yesterday.
Marist Senior Guard Will Whittington
I lost the ball a couple of times on the screens. I just didn't knock down the shots that I got. I hit two big ones and that was good.
Northern Illinois Head Coach Rob Judson
I liked the defensive energy that our team put out there tonight. To hold them to 41% from the floor and 31% from three is a good effort for us.
Obviously the difference in the game was that we were 5-15 from the free throw line.
Marist is a good team, with a good scheme and good players. I've seen Jared Jordan on tape and I am sure that he wasn't 100% tonight, but he is a great player.
Ryan Paradise got us back in sync tonight. He's a great shooter and it is good to have him back.
I did like the progress that we are making. We have to make steps forward and hit free throws and we have to turn the ball over less.
