Marist Head Coach Brian Giorgis
On the defensive play of his team:
It starts and ends with the job Alisa Kresge did on Jill Glessner. You can come up with a lot of different factors in the game, but the bottom line was, Alisa Kresge did an incredible job on jill Glessner.
On his team's second-half run:
It was different people doing it. Nikki (Flores) had a couple big buckets right in a row. Courtney (Kolesar) hit a big three for us in the second half. We got a couple buckets from Rachele (Fitz) inside.
On the contributions from his bench in the first half, with several players in foul trouble:
I think we got a great lift from our fourth post player, Lynzee Johnson. She came in and got six points for us, and did a solid job as an undersized post. She gave us nine quality minutes. Shannon Minter came in and hit a big three for us in that first half.
Marist junior guard Nikki Flores
On the team's thoughts at halftime, leading by three:
We were looking for a way to either stretch the lead or start getting more stops on defense. Our shots were there; we just really weren't really hitting htem in the first half.
Marist red-shirt sophomore guard Julianne Viani
On the team's surge in the second half:
Any time you get on a run, it boosts your confidence, so that really did help.
Loyola Head Coach Joe Logan
On what his team needed to accomplish offensively:
Marist is still at the top of the league, and they're still one of the teams to beat if you want to win this league. Their defense is very good. We thought that if we could get it into the 50, 55, 58 range, we would win the game. They got to 60.
On his team's performance:
I was happy with the way we played; I was happy with the way we attacked them. We got to the free-throw line. We didn't really capitalize on those free throws, but we also turned the ball over. We turned the ball over 18 times. Against a team like Marist, they'll really make you pay for turning the ball over.
On Marist men's Head Coach Matt Brady. (Logan was an assistant for the St. Joseph's women's team at the same time Brady was an assistant for the St. Joseph's men's team.):
He's a terrific person, he's a tremendous recruiter and an even better coach. ... I think you guys are fortunate to have Matt and Brian (Giorgis); they've both done a great job.
Loyola red-shirt junior forward Meghan Wood
On playing close to home (Wood attended Carmel High School and is a Stormville, N.Y. native):
It's just a lot of fun to come home; it's familiar territory. I grew up watching Marist play, so it's awkward being on the other side, but it's fun at the same time.
