Final Stats
Marist Head Coach Matt Brady
Opening statement:
"I thought we played a really terrific half defensively in the first half. Give Saint Peter's a lot of credit, because they never really blinked and they never really folded the tents. They never quit, they kept hanging in there.
On Saint Peter's cutting into the Marist lead:
"I think the basket got a little smaller as the game went longer. Then I think in the last five minutes, Jared [Jordan] made plays, Will [Whittington] made some shots and made some foul shots and Ryan Stilphen got some rebounds. And then when we had to lock them up and stop them to win the game, I thought that we did. But I think I defensively we disappeared primarily for about 14 minutes in the second half.
Marist senior guard Will Whittington
On returning home after three road games last week:
"It's always good to get a win no matter where it is. It was also a really good atmosphere tonight because it was our first game we've had with our student section back since the Winter break."
On hitting three early 3-pointers:
"It was nice getting open looks again, whenver they played that zone tonight."
Marist senior point guard Jared Jordan
On distributing more than scoring:
"I knew coming in, that 1-3-1 zone they were playing gave me opportunities to get in there and find people. Once I get going getting assists, I like to keep it going and concentrate on that."
On scoring more down the stretch:
"When it comes down to the end, I want the ball in my hands to make plays to try to either score or find somebody, and that's what I try to do."
Saint Peter's Head Coach John Dunne
Opening statement:
"We didn't put enough pressure on Jordan. He had a lot of pinpoint passes - on time, on target, hitting his guys in the hands. They drilled it on us a little early. We lost confidence; I think we were a little nervous."
On Jared Jordan play late in the game:
"He just puts his will on the game. He just drives it hard at you ... he can beat you in so many different ways. He was really good down the stretch."
