POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- The Marist women's swimming and diving team opened their dual-meet season with a 154-87 loss to the Fordham Rams Tuesday night at the McCann Center Natatorium. Fordham won 10-13 events on the night.
Senior Melissa Mangona (Saratoga Spring, N.Y.) led the women's diving squad. The senior tri-captain won the 1M (262.42) and 3M (264.30) diving events. The wins were her first two of the year. Mangona qualified for the ECAC and NCAA Zone Regional's with two second place finishes in the same events in Syracuse last weekend.
Jenell Walsh-Thomas (Medford, N.J.) took the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.64. The junior finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:38.94). Jamie Falco (North Haven, Conn.) had two second place finishes. The senior finished second in the 200 yard IM and the 200 yard backstroke (2:12.07, 2:10.84). Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.) came in second in the 200 yard freestyle (1:58.12) and third in the 100 yard free (55:19).
The Red Foxes (0-1) will continue there dual-meet season when they visit Rider on November third.
