POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- Senior Melanie Ondrejik (Manalapan, N.J.) was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Third Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Ondrejik, a MAAC All-Tournament Team selection earlier this year, was a major factor in the Red Foxes' regular season success and MAAC Championship run this season.
An anchor in the central defense position, Ondrejik helped Marist post single season records in goals against average (0.98) and shutouts (7). The senior co-captain and three-time All-MAAC Academic honoree played in 56 consecutive games to end her career for the Red Foxes.
Ondrejik was one of three MAAC student-athletes recognized by the NSCAA. Fairfield's Alex Caram and Niagara's Brittany Bisnott were the others.
The NSCAA's Northeast Region for women's soccer encompasses 41 Division I schools, including colleges and universities in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
"Melanie has been a tremendous leader on and off the field for the Marist women's soccer program, and this is a well deserved recognition," Marist Head Coach Elizabeth Roper said. "I am very proud of Mel and all she has accomplished in her career as an exemplary student-athlete."
