POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's tennis team picked up its second victory in a row, downing Binghamton 4-3 at Dutchess Racquet Club on Saturday. Ray Josephs (Rose Valley, Pa.) and Gregory Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) teamed up for a crucial 9-8 (8-6) victory at second doubles over Pierre Clavel and Jon Bonnet to give the Red Foxes the decisive doubles point.
At second singles, freshman Christian Coley (Cheshire , Conn.) prevailed in three sets, earning a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Alex Dobrin at third singles. Senior Federico Rolon (San Diego, Calif.) topped David Schneider 6-2, 6-1 at sixth singles.
Sessagesimi and Coley also earned a victory at third doubles over Reina Kohtake and Schneider.
In other singles action, Pedro Genovese (Asuncion, Paraguay) dropped a 6-4, 7-5 match to Faisal Mohamed in the number one spot. Binghamton 's Bonnet downed Marks at fourth singles 6-4, 6-3. Josephs dropped the first set to Kohtake at fifth singles 7-6 (5) before retiring. Genovese and Rolon dropped a 9-7 match at first doubles to Mohamed and Dobrin.
The Red Foxes' next match will be on Feb. 27 at Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest. Marist has a 1-0 MAAC record this season, downing Siena on Sept. 27.
