HANOVER, N.H. - The Marist men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat to Dartmouth on Saturday in its first dual match of the Winter season. The Red Foxes took two out of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point in the match.
Pedro Genovese (Asuncion, Paraguay) and Federico Rolon (San Diego, Calif.) posted an 8-3 victory over Dave Waslen and Daniel Freeman. Christian Coley (Cheshire, Conn.) and Loic Sessagesimi (La Tour-de-Peliz, Switzerland) defeated Andy Kim and Dave Steinberg by an 8-3 score as well.
Three of the six singles matches went to three sets. At first singles, Genovese suffered a 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 loss to Waslen. Sessagesimi dropped a 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 match to Freeman at second singles. Third singles saw Jeff Schechtman defeat Coley 6-2, 6-2. At fourth singles, Gregory Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) drop a 6-0, 6-1 match to Justin Tzou. Ray Josephs (Rose Valley, Pa.) suffered a 7-5, 6-2 loss to Steve McGaughey. Rolon dropped a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 match to Andy Kim at sixth singles.
Marks and Josephs dropped an 8-3 match to Schechtman and McGaughey at second doubles.
The Red Foxes will return to action on Sunday, when they will take on Stony Brook at 10 a.m. at Dartmouth.
