Final Stats

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Marist Men's Lacrosse team dropped an 11-4 decision at Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore attack Nick Hautau (South Salem, N.Y.) scored two goals for the Foxes and Keith Detelj (Sayville, N.Y.) contributed a goal and two assists in the game.

Hautau opened the scoring in the game, with a goal at 9:59 of the opening period to give Marist a 1-0 advantage. Hautau added his second of the game and the quarter with 1:22 left to give Marist a 2-1 lead after the first.

Binghamton would go on to score the next six goals of the contest to open a 7-2 lead before Pat VanHall (Fairport, N.Y.) cut into the deficit with 37 seconds remaining in the third quarter. The Bearcats, though, would outscore the Red Foxes 4-1 in the final period to earn the victory and improve to 1-3 on the season.

Detelj had three points in the game, while Hautau had two points and VanHall also had an assist in the match up to go along with his tally.

Binghamton held the advantage in every major category, as the Bearcats out shot the Foxes 46-33. Binghamton also led in groundballs 29-24 and face-offs, winning 11 of the 19 in the game. The Bearcats were also successful on 22 of their 25 clears and converted two of seven extra man opportunities.

Ryan Penner (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) made 12 saves in the game, as he fell to 0-3 on the season.

Binghamton was led by Drew Wickman who had a five point day, scoring three goals and adding two assists. Rob Williams had two tallies and a helper for Binghamton in the win.

At 0-3, Marist will be back in action on March 13 at Hobart. Face-off in Geneva, N.Y. is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
