STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Marist men's lacrosse team suffered an 11-7 loss to 20th-ranked Stony Brook on Tuesday, dropping the Red Foxes to 0-5 on the season. Freshman attacker Kevin Zorovich (Massapequa, N.Y.) paced Marist with four points on the day, finishing with two goals and two assists.
Zorovich was one of three Red Foxes to finish with two goals in the contest, as he was joined in that department by junior midfielder Pete O'Hara (Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore attacker Nick Hautau (South Salem, N.Y.). Hautau finished with game-high totals of 10 shots and six shots on goal. Zorovich and junior midfielder Dan Needle (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) - who also scored a goal in the game - led the Red Foxes with seven ground balls apiece.
The Red Foxes held a 37-27 edge in shots and a 34-29 advantage in ground balls.
Larry Cerasi led the Seawolves with three goals, and Owen Adams had two goals and an assist. Stony Brook now stands at 3-1 on the season.
Marist will return to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes take on St. Joseph's at 1 p.m. in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Lacrosse League contest.
