POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's tennis team earned a 7-0 triumph over Rider on Friday afternoon at Marist Tennis Pavilion in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match. With the victory, the Red Foxes improved to 10-2 overall and ran their MAAC record to 3-0.
Senior tri-captain Federico Rolon (San Diego, Calif.) did not drop a game in his match against Luke Sproviero, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory at sixth singles. In all, the Red Foxes dropped a total of just seven games in their six singles matches.
Rolon and senior tri-captain Pedro Genovese (Asuncion, Paraguay) also combined for an 8-0 win at first doubles. The freshman tandem of Christian Coley (Cheshire, Conn.) and Loic Sessagesimi (La Tour-de-Peliz, Switzerland) also earned an 8-0 win at third doubles.
The Red Foxes will return to action on Sunday at 9 a.m. with a home match against Loyola at the Marist Tennis Pavilion. The Marist women's team's match against the Greyhounds will be held concurrently with the men's match.
