NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - The Marist men's tennis team earned a 6-1 win at Niagara on Sunday to improve to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. The Red Foxes won all six of the singles matches, with four of them going to three sets.
At first singles, Pedro Genovese (Asuncion, Paraguay) posted a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) win over Walter Garcia. Christian Coley (Cheshire, Conn.) rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Justin McConkey. Gregory Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) won a closely contested match at fourth singles, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, against Roman Silin. Ray Josephs (Rose Valley, Pa.) downed Alexander Abji at fifth singles, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. At sixth singles, Antonio Oliver (Madrid, Spain) defeated Mark Dickinson, 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 10-7.
The Purple Eagles took two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Genovese and Sessagesimi defeated McConkey and Dickinson in the number one spot, 8-2. At second doubles, Erick Garcia and Silin topped Coley and Marks, 8-3. Josephs and Federico Rolon (San Diego, Calif.) fell to Walter Garcia and Abji, 9-8 (7-5).
