FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Marist men's tennis team won its fifth consecutive match on Tuesday, earning a 6-1 triumph over Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest. The victory improved the Red Foxes' record to 12-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in MAAC competition.
Marist won five of the six singles matches and all three of the doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Freshmen Christian Coley (Cheshire, Conn.) prevailed at second and third singles, respectively, both by scores of 6-0, 6-3. At fourth singles, junior Gregory Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) also dropped just three games en route to victory, earning a 6-1, 6-2 triumph.
Marist will return to action against conference rival Manhattan on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Marist Tennis Pavilion. The Red Foxes and Jaspers have met for the conference tournament title each of the last three years, with Manhattan coming out on top in all three.
