POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist head football coach Jim Parady announced the addition of an 11th game to the 2007 schedule on Monday. On October 20, the Red Foxes will take on Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. It will mark the sixth consecutive season the teams will play each other, with Marist holding a 3-2 all-time series lead.
Marist was originally scheduled to take on Saint Peter's in a road game on October 20, but the Peacocks announced that they were dropping their program on June 14, creating an open date for the Red Foxes.
The Red Foxes will have an 11-game schedule for the third consecutive year. This year's slate features three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League foes (Duquesne, La Salle, Iona), four foes from the Patriot League (Bucknell, Fordham, Georgetown, Lafayette), two Northeast Conference opponents (Sacred Heart, Wagner), a Pioneer League foe (San Diego) and, for the first time in program history, a game against an Ivy League team (Columbia).
Marist earned a 28-19 victory in on Sept. 9 in last year's meeting with Sacred Heart.
The Red Foxes will begin their 2007 campaign against Lafayette on Sept. 1 in Easton, Pa. Marist's first home game in the newly-renovated Leonidoff Field will take place on Oct. 6 against Duquesne, which will also be Homecoming Day.
