Marist Drops Match At Loyola In Five Games

BALTIMORE, MD. - After losing to St. Peter's in five games on Saturday, the Marist volleyball team dropped another five-game match Sunday afternoon to Loyola. The Red Foxes fell 3-2, with game scores of 28-30, 30-17, 33-31, 23-30, and 12-15.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Schultze (Austin, Tex.) led Marist with 21 kills, hitting .275 for the match. Schultze has five matches this season with 20-plus kills. Freshmen Lindsey Schmid (Austin, Tex.) each had big days. Foss had 18 kills and hit .260, while Schmid had a great all-around match with 13 kills, 7 blocks, 5 digs, and a .524 hitting percentage.

Nina Camaioni led Loyola with 18 kills and 36 digs, hitting .282. Setter Crissy Cruz had 63 assists for a balanced Greyhound offense, which had five players collect double-digit kills. Loyola moves to 10-7 and 3-1 in MAAC play with the win. Marist is now 5-11, 1-3 in conference.

After Loyola took game one 30-28, Marist took games two and three 30-17 and 33-31. The Red Foxes had 19 kills in each game while committing only eight hitting errors. The Greyhounds would come back and take the last two games, hitting .472 in game four to force a fifth game.

Marist returns home for a 5 p.m. match against Rider on Thursday night.
