POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's tennis team wrapped up dual match play for the fall semester with their second consecutive dual match victory at love of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe. This time the teams' victim was the Rider Broncs.
The Red Foxes started the match as the swept the doubles point winning all three matches. The pairings combined to drop just three games to their counterparts. All of the matches were won in under an hour.
At first doubles, Rhys Hobbs (Sydney, Australia) defeated Casey Jedlinski and Josh Rultenberg, 8-2. In second doubles action Nicolas Pisecky (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Landon Greene (Palos Verdes, Calif.) teamed up to beat Will Haight and Marc Ashed of Rider, in a shutout, 8-0. Antonio Oliver (Madrid, Spain) and Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) took the third doubles victory over Aaron Goldenthal and Robert Olson, 8-1.
Marist would win all six singles matches as well to complete the sweep of the match.
Sessagesimi had the most routine victory of all the Marist players, as he did not drop a game against the Broncs' Jedlinski, 6-0, 6-0. The match-up was played in the first singles slot.
Pisecky and Hobbs won their matches by the same score at second and fifth singles respectively, beating their opponents 6-3, 6-1.
Marist's third and fourth singles players of von Nordheim and Greene defeated Haight and Ashed of Rider 6-1, 6-1 in their respective singles contests.
Oliver of Marist and Olsen of Rider rounded out the singles matches in the sixth slot, where Oliver got the better of Olsen 6-1, 6-2.
After an idle weekend, Marist will return to the court on the weekend of Oct. 10-12 when they travel to Columbia for the Columbia Classic.
