HANOVER, N.H.- The Marist men's tennis team dropped matches versus Dartmouth and Stony Brook this weekend in Hanover, N.H. The Red Foxes (3-2, 2-0 MAAC) lost both matches 6-1. Christian Coley (Glastonbury, Conn.) got the win versus Stony Brook.
Sessagesimi beat Mark Brodie 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in second singles. The Red Foxes dropped the other five singles matches against Dartmouth in straight sets. Marist dropped all three doubles matches as well.
Coley was victorious in first singles over Ivan Rummell in the Stony Brook match. He won 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 in a fantastic match. Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) lost a tight match to Ilan Shrvartz 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3 in third singles. The Red Foxes dropped the other four matches in straight sets, and they went 0-3 in doubles.
Marist captain Gregory Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) was unable to play in the matches this weekend. Marks was unable to fly back from a conference in San Antonio because of weather.
Though the Red Foxes lost both matches, head coach Tim Smith said he saw some positives.
"We played well in some of the matches. The scores don't tell the whole story, and we missed Greg (Marks)," the head coach said.
Marist will return to action Saturday when they face Monmouth at West Point.
