WEST POINT, New York - The Marist Men's Tennis team competed at the Army West Point Shootout, demonstrating solid performances in both doubles and singles throughout the weekend.
Friday started strong with a doubles sweep of Stonehill. Graduate students Jose Catala and Dante Despontin secured wins at courts #1 and #3, while the duo of Alejandro Abella and Gregor Heinemann cruised to a 6-1 victory at #2. In singles, Fateh Singh led the charge with a win at #6 against Holy Cross.
On Saturday, the Red Foxes split matches with Quinnipiac and Hofstra in doubles. Nick Suhanitski and Jose Catala delivered a particularly impressive 6-1 win over Hofstra's #1 team. In singles against Army, Ian Layton shined with a decisive 6-3, 6-4 victory at #2.
Sunday saw Alejandro Abella and Gregor Heinemann continue their doubles success, defeating Sacred Heart 6-1. Abella then went on to secure a singles victory against Army's Alan Ton, winning 6-2, 6-4 at the #2 spot.
