POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist Men's Tennis opened its fall slate with a strong showing, downing Union 7-0 behind dominant singles play and a pair of decisive doubles wins.
The Red Foxes clinched the crucial doubles point after victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Freshman pairing Alejandro Abella Fernandez/Gregor Heinemann rolled past V. Gupta/Philip 6–1, while the tandem of Nick Suhanitski/Thomas Bevan sealed the point with a 6–3 triumph over Dolazsynski/Uzelac.
In singles, Marist's depth proved too much as the Red Foxes captured all six courts.

At No. 1, Jose Catala-Ortiz defeated Jesus Sosa in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6.

The Red Foxes return to action next weekend when they travel to the Army West Point shootout Friday, September 12-14.
