Red Foxes Sweep Weekly MAAC Awards

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Four different Marist men's and women's swimming and diving team members were honored by the MAAC for their performances in a dual-meet versus Seton Hall. Sandra Bujalski (Thomaston, Conn.) was named the Women's Swimmer of the Week, and Melissa Mangona (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was named the Women's Diver of the Week. Spencer Hartmann (Windsor, Conn.) was the co-Men's Diver of the Week, and Mitchell Katz (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) was named the Men's Diver of the Week. Bujalski, a junior, played a huge role in the Red Foxes 167-133 win over Seton Hall on Saturday. Bujalski won three events on the day and was part of the winning 400 yard medley relay team. She won the 200 yard butterfly (2:10.62), the 100 yard freestyle (54.84), and the 200 yard individual medley (2:12.28).

Mangona, won both boards in Marist's dual-meet win over Seton Hall. It was the sixth straight dual-meet she swept the diving events. She won the 1 meter with a 232.27 and the 3 meter with a score of 266.63. This marks the fifth time this season that Mangona has been named the MAAC Women's Diver of the Week.

Hartmann won the 200 yard butterfly in Marist's two point loss to Seton Hall on Saturday. The junior also had second place finishes in both distance freestyle events. He had a time of 4:41.07 in the 500 and 9:52.60 in the 1000. Hartmann was also part of the winning 400 yard freestyle relay team. He shared the award with Doug Alban of Loyola.

Sophomore Mitchell Katz had a strong meet for Marist in their loss to Seton Hall. Katz won the 1 meter event with a 279.44 and took second in the 3 meter with a 255.83. Marist men's divers took the top three places in each diving event in the meet.

Both the men and women end their dual-meet season with 7-4 records and will head to Baltimore for the MAAC Championships February 14-16.
