BALTIMORE, Md.-The Marist men's tennis team continued their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference dominance with an easy 7-0 win over at Loyola. Five different Red Foxes were double winners as the win improves Marist's record to 5-0 in the MAAC and 7-4 overall. The Red Foxes have taken 31 of 33 total points in their five MAAC wins.
In doubles action, Marist took 24 of 29 games. Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) and Landon Greene (Palos Verde, Calif.) played the closest match. They won 8-4 over Doug Alban and Dan D'Agostino.
In first singles, Christian Coley (Glastonbury, Conn.) had no trouble with Scott Gannon. The sophomore won 6-0, 6-1. Loic Sessagesimi (La Tour de Peliz, Switzerland) defeated Matt McDaniel by the same score in second singles, and von Nordheim defeated Tim Koch 6-3, 6-0 in third singles.
In fourth singles, Greg Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) rolled over Alban 6-3, 6-0. Greene shut down D'Agostino 6-0, 6-0 in fifth singles and junior Antonio Oliver (Madrid, Spain) won 6-2, 6-0 over Jamie Russo.
"The weather delayed our match today so we had some time to watch a few professionals play on TV," Marist head coach Tim Smith said. "With the way we played, we may start doing that more often."
The Red Foxes will return to action with a mid-week match at UConn on Tuesday.
