STORRS, Conn..- All Red Fox singles players won in straight sets as the Marist men's tennis team had no trouble in a 6-1 victory at UConn on Tuesday afternoon. The win is the fourth in a row for Marist (8-4, 5-0 MAAC) and second over a Big East opponent this year. The Huskies (5-8-1) earned their only point of the match by winning two of three doubles matches.

Sophomore Christian Coley (Glastonbury, Conn.) breezed by Joe Goldstein in first singles 6-0, 6-3, and fellow sophomore Loic Sessagesimi (La Tour de Peliz, Switzerland) did the same in a 6-1, 6-2 second singles win over Ben Schueler.

In third singles, freshman Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Joe Michaels. Nicolas Pisecky had a tough first set with Andrew Marcus but cruised in the second. He ended up with a 7-6, 6-2 fourth singles win.

Senior captain Greg Marks (Newburgh, N.Y.) had the most dominant performance of the day as he rolled over Christian Malerba 6-0, 6-0 in fifth singles. Freshman Landon Greene (Palos Verde, Calif.) defeated Tom Cook 6-4, 6-1 in sixth singles.

In first doubles, Coley and Pisecky fell to Goldstein and Schueler, 8-2. Marks and Sessagesimi were the only Red Foxes to get two wins in the match, The duo won a tight 8-5 decision over Michaels and Malerba. Von Nordheim and Greene dropped a tight 9-8 decision to Marcus and Cook in third doubles.

Marist will return to action on Thursday when they visit the Hartford Hawks of the America East Conference. The first match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
