FAIRFIELD, CONN. - Sophomore Kevin Shoemaker (Saucon Valley, Pa.) was a triple winner for the Marist men's swimming and diving team in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dual meet on Thursday. Junior Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.), senior Kevin Quinn (Neponsit, N.Y.) and sophomore Patrick Shea (Peabody, Mass.) each won two events as the Red Foxes took first place in 11 of the meet's races to win by a score of 182-116.
Shoemaker claimed first place in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:59.76, the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:14.31 and the 400-meter individual medley with a mark of 4:47.26. He scored 27 points for the Red Foxes.
One of three double winners, Shea claimed the top spot in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:45.47. He also won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:14.36.
Quinn, a co-captain, won both the 100- and 200-meter butterfly events with times of 59.95 and 2:16.42 respectively.
Bolstad won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. His score in 1-meter diving was 286.35, while he amassed 312.75 points on the 3-meter board. He has yet to lose on the 3-meter board this season.
Junior Steven Vendetta (South Windsor, Conn.) won the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 54.63 seconds. Classmate Joshua Sklanka (Watertown, Conn.) won the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:03.30.
Marist will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m., when it hosts Binghamton and Siena in a tri-meet at the McCann Center Natatorium.
