BALTIMORE, MD. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team went 0-3 as it completed three dual meets at the H20unds Invitational at the Mangione Aquatic Center on the campus of Loyola University this weekend. Marist fell to Delaware 288-81, Loyola 233-124 and Iona 226-126. Both Delaware and Loyola are ranked in the mid-major poll on CollegeSwimming.com.
Despite the team's struggles, junior Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.) and senior Mitchell Katz (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) took first and second place in 3-meter diving. For the second straight day, Bolstad claimed first place and Katz claimed second. Bolstad scored 321.90 points and Katz amassed 261.65.
Senior Kevin Quinn (Neponsit, N.Y.) tallied two top-10 finishes in the 200-yd. backstroke and the 200-yd. butterfly. He finished the 200-yd. back with a lifetime best time of 1:56.57 in sixth place. Quinn finished ninth in the 200-yd. fly with a mark of 2:00.76.
In the 100-yd. freestyle, junior Steven Vendetta (South Windsor, Conn.) finished eighth with a time of 48.04, his fastest swim of the season in the event.
Marist will return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Lehigh. The meet is first of two on the road for the Red Foxes and will begin at 1 p.m.
