POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In its second match in as many days, the Marist men's tennis team earned the same result as it did on Monday: a 7-0 victory. The opponent on Tuesday was the Hofstra Pride. Sophomore Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) completed the shutout for the Red Foxes as the last player on court at third singles. He won a third set tiebreak to best Tytus Stempniewicz 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (4-7), 10-7 to take the match.

Sophomore Loic Sessagesimi (Blonay, Switzerland) won his second straight match at no. 1 singles. He earned a straight set victory over Nenad Radakovic, 6-3, 6-1. The win was his seventh straight singles win in 16 days.

Freshman Matt Himmelsbach (Longmeadow, Mass.) won his sixth straight and second at fifth singles during the stretch. He bested Alex Hoser, 7-5, 6-1.

Senior Antonio Oliver (Madrid, Spain) was a double winner in his final home match. He teamed with sophomore Rhys Hobbs (Sydney, Australia) to earn an 8-3 victory at first doubles. In singles he started in the line-up for his second straight match, and in as many days he had the most decisive victory of any Marist starter. At sixth singles he rolled past Eric Gladstone, 6-1, 6-0. In his past two singles matches he has given up just one game.

Marist will prepare for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament which will begin Friday at 3:30 p.m. The Red Foxes will enter as the second-seeded team and will defend their 2008 conference crown. The matches will be played at the USTA National Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y.
