Jake Dembow Inducted Into National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

June 8, 2009

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Jake Dembow, a member of the Marist football team from 2005-08 and a 2009 Marist graduate, has been inducted into the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Dembow earned the honor for his accomplishments in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field.

Dembow is one of 564 players from 266 schools that comprise the 2009 induction class.

Dembow was one of 43 student-athletes nationwide to be named a Football Championship Subdivision Academic All-Star this past season. He was also a First Team Academic All-District selection, as selected by CoSIDA and presented by ESPN The Magazine, and was a national semifinalist for the prestigious Draddy Trophy.

Dembow completed his four-year career with the Red Foxes by starting all 44 of the team's games since 2005 and being selected to play in the East Coast Bowl in November. He was a three-year starter at right tackle from 2005-07 before making the switch to right guard this past season. In 2008, Dembow was an integral part of an offensive line which allowed just 14 sacks and enabled the Red Foxes to average over five yards per carry and score 24 rushing touchdowns. He was selected to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League All-Academic Team in 2006 and 2007.

The Marist football team, which will begin play in the Pioneer Football League in 2009, opens its season at Sacred Heart on Sept. 5. The team's home opener will be against PFL foe Drake on Sept. 12. Ticket information for this season is available on GoRedFoxes.com.
