POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Rising senior Alan Roberts (Middletown, N.Y.) will compete in the 2009 U.S. Open in Federal Way, Wash., on Friday, Aug. 7 in the 100-meter breaststroke. The meet has 240 swim clubs represented from across the country.

Roberts enters his event with the 61st-best time, a mark of 54.92 seconds, when he swam the short course at the ECAC Championships in February. He has the ninth-best time among competitors who qualified on the short course during the winter season.

If he has one of the top 24 times after the qualifying heats, he will advance to the finals which will race on Friday evening.

Roberts is being coached by Marist assistant Henry Hudson Jr.
