LEWISBURG, PA. - The Marist women's soccer team snapped a four-game winless streak at Bucknell on Friday night. The Red Foxes scored three first half goals to earn a 3-2 victory, and improve to 2-3-1 on the season. Senior Kate Fox (Franklin, Mass.) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, while freshman Merrilynn Esteve (Morristown, N.J.) each scored their first goals of the year.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie Balzarini (Holbrook, N.Y.) made seven saves in goal to earn her second win of the season. She played 78 minutes before she was replaced by freshman Caitlin Landsman (Burke, Va.).

Bucknell and Marist exchanged goals in the first 20 minutes of the match. The Red Foxes jumped out to a 1-0 lead early as Sabia scored her first collegiate goal in the fourth minute of the match. She got around a Bison defender and put the shot in from about five yards out. After Bucknell leveled the score at one in the 20th minute, Fox put Marist back on top 39 seconds after the Bucknell goal. She put the shot through the hands of the Bison's goalkeeper, Colleen Garrehy.

The Red Foxes added a goal by Esteve in the 27th minute, which proved to be the game-winner. Marist took a 3-1 lead into the locker room. Bucknell added a goal in the 54th minute, but the comeback was stopped by the Marist defense.

Marist will kick off a three-game homestand on Sunday, Sept. 20 against the Lafayette Leopards. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m., at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
