UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Marist men's cross country team sent runners to the Penn State National and UAlbany Invitational meets on Saturday. At Penn State, the Red Foxes finished in the top half of a field that included many regionally and nationally ranked teams while nine freshmen recorded personal-best times at the UAlbany Invite.
Junior Matthew Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) was the top finisher for Marist at Penn State, completing the 5.2-mile course in 26:24 and placing 54th overall. Junior William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.) placed 65th overall with a time of 26:35.
As a team, Marist finished 12th overall at Penn State, totaling 344 points.
At the UAlbany Invitational, nine freshmen recorded personal-best times in the 8,000-meter men's purple race with freshman Ben Windisch (Huntington, N.Y.) placing second overall with a time of 26:39.0.
In the men's championship race, senior Timothy Keegan (Huntington, N.Y.) was the top finisher for Marist, placing 18th overall with a time of 25:45.6. Freshman Nick Hughes (Stony Point, N.Y.) finished 31st overall with a personal-best time of 26:11.6.
As a team, Marist placed sixth overall out of 25 teams competing in the men's championship race at the UAlbany Invitational, tallying 202 points on the day.
Marist will return to action on Friday, October 29 for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships which will be held at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn.
