Marist Women's Soccer To Team Up With Miles Of Hope And "Kick For A Cure" On Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's soccer team will host "Kickin' For A Cure" on Saturday, Oct. 23 when the Red Foxes host Siena at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field for a breast cancer awareness game. The Marist Athletics Department will team up with Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, and all proceeds and donations collected at the match will benefit the Hudson River Valley-based foundation.

The Marist women's soccer team will look to honor breast cancer survivors prior to its match with a special tribute ceremony. Breast Cancer survivors that would like to be recognized during this special ceremony can contact Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs, Frank Lombardy, via email at Frank.Lombardy@marist.edu.

The Red Foxes fundraising efforts will include and 50/50 raffle as well as t-shirt giveaway. For every donation of $5 or more, fans will receive a Marist Soccer T-shirt, on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in contributing to the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation can do so online through the organization's website, www.milesofhope.org. Additionally, Miles of Hope will be at the game distributing literature on breast cancer research and to accept donations.

Members of the Marist Student Booster Club who are in attendance will receive 25 points.

The Red Foxes currently stand in sole possession of first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a 5-1 record. They are three points ahead of second place Siena which is 4-2 in conference matches.

Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is the primary beneficiary of Marist's "Pink Zone" contest. A foundation based in the Hudson River Valley, Miles of Hope helps people in the Hudson Valley who are affected by breast cancer. The foundation serves eight counties: Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester.
