POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dual meet of the season, the Marist women's swimming and diving team defeated Rider 168-128 Saturday afternoon at the McCann Center Natatorium. Marist won nine of 16 events outright on the afternoon.
Sophomore Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) placed first in the 1,000-yd. freestyle with a time of 10:20.83. Conard also took first in the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 5:04.60.
Conard won the 200-yd. individual medley with a time of 2:10.64. Marist took second and third place in the race as well. Freshman Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.) placed second with a time of 2:14.19, and sophomore Kaitlyn Larkin (Huntington, N.Y.) placed third with a time of 2:15.28. Miles also took a win in 100-yd. butterfly with a time of 59.67.
Freshman Sarah Wagner (Rockaway, N.J.) placed first in the 100-yd. backstroke with a time of 1:00.00 flat. Junior Allison Kreho (Shelton, Conn.) earned third place in the race with a time of 1:00.24.
In the 100-yd. breaststroke, sophomore Chelsea Unger (Marlboro, N.Y.) took first with a time of 1:08.49. Larkin placed second with a time of 1:09.14.
In the 50-yd. freestyle, freshman Maddie Arciello (Missoula, Mont.) placed first with a time of 24.80.
In the 200-yd. breaststroke, Larkin placed first with a time of 2:28.36, with Unger placing second with a time of 2:31.15.
The team of Conard, Larkin, Miles and Arciello placed first in the 200-yd. medley relay with a time of 1:49.03.
Marist returns to the McCann Center natatorium on November 6 at 1 p.m. for their next MAAC meet against Fairfield.
