POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Senior wide receiver James LaMacchia (Bronx, N.Y.) of the Marist football team has received a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Honorable Mention College Football Performance Award (CFPA) for the second straight week. Against Davidson on Nov. 6, LaMacchia caught three touchdown passes and had five total receptions for 103 yards.
LaMacchia's three touchdown receptions came within a span of 13:22 in the final two quarters of this past Saturday's game. His touchdown catches came from six, 59 and six yards out. The three touchdown catches gave him eight for the season, giving him the program's single-season record holder. LaMacchia also holds the program's all-time records for receptions (164), receiving yards (2,351) and receiving touchdowns (17).
On Oct. 18, LaMacchia was named FCS Punt Returner Performer of the Week after a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown against San Diego. He was named to the CFPA Watch List for FCS Punt Returner of the Year on Oct. 28.
This season, LaMacchia ranks ninth in the FCS in receptions per game (6.89), 10th in punt return average (14.33), 22nd in receiving yards per game (78.89), tied for 70th in scoring (6.00 points per game) and tied for 72nd in all-purpose yardage per game (102.78). He leads the Pioneer Football League (PFL) in receptions per game and punt return average.
Marist (3-6 overall, 2-5 PFL) returns to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes close out their home schedule and PFL slate against Dayton (9-1, 7-0). Kickoff is set for noon.
