NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Sophomore Matthew Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) of the Marist men's indoor track and field team qualified for the IC4A championships in the mile on Friday at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships, held at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory. Flint placed fourth with a personal-best time of 4:13.00.
The mile is the second event Flint qualified for IC4As in; he previously qualified in the 3K.
The Red Foxes also had four scoring places in the 5K, as Marist runners placed third, fourth, fifth and sixth. Junior Zak Smetana (Niskayuna, N.Y.) set a personal-best time en route to finishing sixth.
Marist had a pair of scorers in the 3K. Sophomore William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.), who had previously qualified for ICA4s in the event, took third in 8:28.05. Sophomore Curtis Jensen (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.) came in sixth.
In the 55 dash, freshman Darren Bushey (Pittsfield, Mass.) qualified for the finals with a personal best time of 6.89 seconds.
