ARLINGTON, Va. - Red-shirt sophomore left-hander Chad Gallagher (Southboro, Mass.) earned his first career victory, and freshman first baseman Mike Orefice (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) drove in three runs as the Marist baseball team defeated George Washington 11-6 on Tuesday. The win was the Red Foxes' second straight.

George Washington got on the scoreboard with a run in the home half of the first, but Marist tied the score in the top of the fourth. Gallic then stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a squeeze bunt by freshman second baseman Zach Shank (Lititz, Pa.). The Red Foxes took the lead for good an inning later on a sacrifice fly by Orefice, which scored freshman right fielder Mark Stuckey (Marietta, Pa.). A two-run double by Schwind staked the Red Foxes to a 4-1 lead after six innings.
In the seventh, Curylo's homer gave Marist a 5-1 edge, but George Washington answered with a run of its own to cut the Red Foxes' lead to 5-2. Marist then broke the game open with five runs in the eighth, an inning in which the Red Foxes sent 11 hitters to the plate and had the benefit of three singles, three walks, a hit batter and an error.
Marist added its final run in the ninth when Orefice drew a bases-loaded walk, which scored sophomore pinch-runner Eric Helmrich (Yonkers, N.Y.).
