POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist men's cross country team was ranked #14 in the Northeast Region preseason poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, it was announced Monday.
The ranking, which reflects the strength of each squad based upon the number of new and returning runners, comes after the Red Foxes finished 16th at last year's NCAA Northeast Regional. In 2008, the Red Foxes recorded their best finish in school history at the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a 10th place finish.
The Marist cross country teams will open the season on Saturday morning at the Marist Season Opener at Bowdoin Park in the Town of Poughkeepsie. Also scheduled to compete in the race are Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents Fairfield, Siena, and Saint Peter's.
