POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Juniors Adam Vess (Cromwell, Conn.) and Matthew Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) of the Marist men's cross country team set a meet record at the third annual Marist Invitational, held Saturday at Bowdoin Park. Vess and Flint each crossed the finish line in 15:59 on the 5K course, with Vess being awarded the victory as the Red Foxes toppled Fairfield, Siena and Saint Peter's.

The previous meet record was 16:08, which was set by Girma Segni in 2008.

The Red Foxes had seven of the top 10 runners in the race, and 11 of the top 15. A total of 10 Red Foxes set personal-best times on the course: Vess, Flint, sophomore Sam McMullen (Newton, N.J.), senior Patrick Duggan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), freshman Ben Windisch (Huntington, N.Y.) and sophomore Billy Posch (Wantagh, N.Y.).

Following the meet, the six members of the men's cross country team's senior class - Duggan, Sam McMullen (Newton, N.J.), Zachary Smetana (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and Michael Holinko (Belle Mead, N.J.) - were honored in a Senior Day ceremony.

Marist will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Iona Meet of Champions, which will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
