EDISON, N.J. - Sophomore swimmer Brian Bolstad (Highland, N.Y.) of the Marist women's and men's swimming and diving teams were named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Swimmer and Men's Diver of the Week respectively. Bolstad won the award for the sixth time this season, while Conard earned the award for the fourth time this season on Tuesday.
Bolstad won both diving events for the Red Foxes in their meet versus Southern Connecticut State on January 15. He cruised to victory on the 3-meter board with a score of 339.52, as well as in the 1-meter, where he posted a score of 334.72 points. In both competitions, he outscored the second place finisher by at least 120 points. His 18 individual points were second best for the Red Foxes on the day as they defeated Southern Connecticut 161-122.
Conard had a record-setting day for the Red Foxes in their meet on January 15 versus Southern Connecticut State. In her victory in the 500-yd. freestyle, she posted the MAAC's fastest time of the season, 4:59.59 and the first time that the 5 minute barrier was broken in a dual event by a female. In her second event, the 200-yd. butterfly, Conard posted a time of 2:07.93. That time is the second fastest among MAAC female swimmers this season. In relay action, Conard was the lead swimmer in the victorious 200-yd. medley team, who finished 4.5 seconds ahead of second place with a time of 1:50.39. The final score of the women's meet saw Marist triumphant 166-129.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to the pool on Saturday, January 22 at 12 p.m. when they travel to Baltimore to take on the Retrievers of UMBC.
