POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Seniors James LaMacchia (Bronx, N.Y.) of the Marist football team are getting the opportunity to showcase their talents for NFL and other professional football scouts. Both Foley and LaMacchia attended a Pro Day today at Fordham University, and Foley will also be attending one at Boston College on March 23.
Both Foley and LaMacchia were First Team All-Pioneer Football League selections for the 2010 season, with LaMacchia earning the honor as a wide receiver and as a return specialist, and Foley being honored as a defensive back. Foley and LaMacchia also played in the inaugural FCS Senior Scout Bowl on Dec. 11.
Foley registered 103 tackles in the 2010 season, the second-highest single-season total in Marist's 18 seasons as a Division I program. He had six games of 10 or more stops this season, including a career-high 16 against Morehead State on Sept. 25. Foley also had an interception, a fumble recovery and five pass break-ups. He wrapped up his career with 321 tackles, and was the first Red Fox to have over 300 career tackles in the program's Division I history.
LaMacchia set single-season program records in 2010 with 74 receptions and eight touchdown catches. He also had 844 yards receiving. LaMacchia also served as the Red Foxes' primary punt returner, and averaged 13.3 yards on 18 returns. On Oct. 16 against San Diego, he returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown. He is the program's all-time leader in receptions (176), receiving yards (2,485) and receiving touchdowns (17).
