POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The men's basketball team will begin a three-game road trip and a stretch of five of six matchups away from the McCann Arena with a Friday night showdown with Siena. The Saints (9-10, 4-5 MAAC) will host the Red Foxes (7-12, 2-6 MAAC) at the Times Union Center with a 7 p.m. scheduled tip-off.
LAST TIME OUT: Marist fell to Manhattan on Friday by a score of 61-44. The Red Foxes held the lead or were within 3 points for the majority of the first half.
A 10-0 Jaspers' run at the end of the first and beginning of the second gave them all the margin that they'd need to earn the victory.
Chavaughn Lewis led the Red Foxes with 11 points, 4 blocks and 3 steals. Anell Alexis joined him in double figures with 10 points. Adam Kemp corralled double digit rebounds (11) for the
third time in four games.
SCOUTING SIENA: The Saints come into Friday's contest with a 3-2 mark in their last five games, including a 65-62 win over MAAC-leading Iona last time out on Monday, Jan. 23.
Siena is led by O.D. Anosike, who averages a double-double with 14.9 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. Evan Hymes and Kyle Downey join Anosike as double figure scorers, as they average 14.1 and 13.2 points per game, respectively.
Only seven Saints see regular action for the team with six averaging over 26.5 minutes per contest.
COMPARING THE SQUADS: Offensively, Marist holds an advantage as it scores 69.6 points per game versus Siena's 62.5. Defensively, the Saints allow 66.1 points per contest versus the Red Foxes' 76.6 average.
When comparing the teams' shooting percentages, Siena holds a slight lead in field goal percentage at .417 versus .411, while Marist leads with significant advantages in three point shooting at .353 to .292 and in free throw shooting at .709 to .660.
ON THE NATIONAL SCENE: With five players on the team with ten or more blocked shots, Marist's average of 4.9 per game rank it 42nd amongst Division 1 competitors.
The Red Foxes trail national leader Kentucky, who blocks 9.3 shots a game and are tied with Georgetown and Manhattan with 4.8.
Individually, Adam Kemp is 39th in the nation with 2.2 blocked shots and 120th with 7.5 rebounds per game.
STATISTICAL MILESTONES ON THE HORIZON:
Adam Kemp blocked his 70th career block versus Manhattan to move into a tie for ninth-place with Steve Paterno amongst Marist's All-Time Leaderboard. The sophomore is six shy of Tomasz Cielebak's eighth-place mark of 76.
Devin Price goes into Friday's game four assists shy of 200 for his career and two treys away from 100 three pointers made. He's currently 26 assists away from reaching Randy Encarnacion's tenth-place career mark of 222 and 25 threes away from Sean Kennedy's #10 spot.
