RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Joel Moss (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), sophomore Ken Walshak (Babylon, N.Y.) and junior Arquimedes DelaCruz  (Wantagh, N.Y.) of the Marist men's track and field team won their respective races at the Fred Hardy Invitational, held at the University of Richmond on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, freshman Mark Valentino (Smithtown, N.Y.) qualified for the United States Track & Field Junior National Championships, and the 400- and 3200-meter relay teams got in the school record books.

Moss won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:05.72. Walshak captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:30.28. In the same race, Valentino finished third in 9:37.71, as he beat the junior national qualifying standard by .29 seconds and set a personal best by five seconds. DelaCruz's winning time in the 10,000-meter run was 31:51.08.

The 3,200-meter relay team of junior Chris Vanzetta (Latham, N.Y.), senior Thomas Lipari (Greenvale, N.Y.), senior Kyle Havard (Atlantic Highlands, N.Y.) and junior Matt Panebianco (Tappan, N.Y.) set its school record with a time of 7:48.55, a five-second improvement over the previous mark. The 400-meter relay team of senior Michael McCloskey (Latham, N.Y.), freshman Tyler Schwarz (Fairfield, Conn.), junior Darren Bushey (Pittsfield, Mass.) and sophomore Jesse Aprile (Yorktown, N.Y.) tied a school record with a time of 43.33 seconds.

With a time of 32:34.05 in the 10,000, sophomore Billy Hild (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) set a personal best by nearly 25 seconds while earning a fourth-place finish.
