LATHAM,
N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team was defeated on the road, late
Tuesday versus Siena by a score of 4-3. After winning the doubles point, the
Red Foxes earned two points in singles action via victories by junior Joana Sun
(Gales Ferry, Conn.) and freshman Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.).
The #1 and #3 doubles teams of Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.)
and Erin McCarthy (Salem, N.J.), and Sun and freshman Tessa Lewis (Lewiston,
N.Y.) each defeated their Siena counterparts with 8-5 victories.
In singles action, Sun and Tahir earned wins in #3 and #4
competition. Sun had the easiest time with her opponent as she swept Brittany
Filip in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. After dropping the first set 6-2, Tahir
fought back versus Danielle Crill and won the second and third sets 6-4 and 6-3
to clinch the point.
The Red Foxes (6-6, 2-2 MAAC) will conclude its home schedule with
a non-conference matchup versus Fordham on Wednesday, April 11.
