- The Marist women's tennis team fell to Fairfield in a home conference
matchup on Wednesday by a score of 6-1 at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion.
Junior Joana Sun (Gales Ferry, Conn.) collected the Red Foxes' lone point with a
straight set win in #3 singles.
Facing off with Fairfield's Allison Radde, Sun defeated
her opponent by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
In #1 singles action, junior Kelsey Raynor (Garden City,
N.Y.) had a hard fought battle with Monica Yajima. After Raynor took the first
set 6-4, Yajima earned the final two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
In doubles competition, the team of Erin McCarthy (Salem,
N.J.) and Raynor dueled with Carolina Koladzyn and Yajima before falling in a
tie-breaker. The score of their match was 8-7 (8-6).
The Red Foxes (6-5, 2-1 MAAC) will next be in action on
Tuesday, April 10 when they travel to Siena for a 3 p.m. conference matchup.
