WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The Marist women's tennis team won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship on Sunday. The second-seeded Red Foxes defeated top-seeded Fairfield 4-1 at Mercer County Park.

Senior Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Raynor won Sunday's match at first singles, 6-3, 6-2.

After dropping a hard-fought battle for the doubles' point, the Red Foxes came out firing on all cyclinders in singles play.

Junior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) was the first Red Fox to score a singles' point as she defeated Carolina Koladzyn in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 at fourth singles.

Raynor then gave Marist the lead at 2-1, with her victory in first singles over the 2013 MAAC Player of the Year Monica Yajima in straight sets.

Carrying on the theme of straight set success, senior Joana Sun (Mansfield, Mass.) cruised over Allison Radde, 6-2, 6-2.

With both freshmen Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) still in action, sophomore Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) came through and clinched the championship team point when she beat Nikki Jackson in sixth singles 6-1, 6-4.

The championship is the fourth in program history for Marist, all of which have come in the seven years of the tenure of Head Coach Roge Nesbitt - 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013. This was the fourth consecutive years Marist faced Fairfield for the championship.
