Men's Swimming and Diving Pulls Out Close Victory Over Boston College

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist men's swimming and diving team overtook Boston College in a close contest with a 159-141 victory.

The meet was a close race that came down to the last event of the meet. In the 400 freestyle relay, Marist claimed a time of 3:12.52 to take first place. The relay consisted of junior John Spitzer (Fairport, N.Y.), senior Alex Lombardi (Branford, Conn.), sophomore Caleb Camp (Chapel Hill, N.C.), and junior Jason Ruddy (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) swimming anchor for the clutch win.

Finishing in first place in the 1,000 yard freestyle was Sean Sullivan (Huntington, N.Y.) with a time of 10:04.58.

Also for Marist, senior Nick Spinella (Franklin Square, N.Y.) took first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 53.74, while also placing first in the 200 yard backstroke in 1:57.86, and the 200 yard individual medley in 1:57.12.

Adding to the meet for the Red Foxes, Ruddy claimed a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly (1:59.16) as well as the 100 yard butterfly (52.24).

Also for the Red Foxes, freshman Ryan Murphy (New Fairfield, Conn.) swept the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:42.47.

As for the diving events, junior Jacob Baker (Shavertown, Pa.) took his first victory of the season, claiming first place in the one meter dive with a score of 284.18.

The Red Foxes move on to host Seton Hall next Saturday, Jan. 25. The meet is set to kick off at 1 p.m., as Marist will celebrate its seniors for Senior Day in their last home meet of the season.
