BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Marist volleyball team took the final two sets of its match against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Canisius on Nov. 9 to win more than 20 matches for the second straight season.

The Red Foxes (21-5, 13-3) took the first set 25-22, but dropped the second set 27-25. Marist then won the third and fourth sets 25-19 and 25-20 respectively to seal the victory. It sits atop the MAAC with a one-game lead over Siena with two matches to play.

Marist held leads of 16-10 and 22-16 in the opening set but encountered a 5-0 run by Canisius that cut its lead to one. Junior Kelsey Lahey (Bowling Green, Ohio) slammed the winning kill.

25 points weren't enough for Marist in the second set, as momentum favored the Golden Griffins. Canisius had three runs of three points or more and earned the last three of the frame to even the match.

The Red Foxes took their first lead of the third set at 13-12 following an attack error, then ripped off five of the last seven points for a 2-1 advantage. A 4-0 run and in the final set with sophomore Amanda Schlegel (Austin, Texas) serving pushed Marist ahead by three, while kills by senior Mackenzie Stephens (Holland, Mich.) and freshman Kelsey Ediger (Pearland, Texas) ended a two-match losing streak.

Stephens had 20 of Marist's 64 kills along with eight blocks. Schlegel had a season-high 55 assists and three service aces, while senior Brooke Zywick (Garden City, Mich.) totaled a match-high 25 digs.

Canisius junior Grace Streicher racked up 42 assists with a pair of service aces and classmate Rachel Kline tallied a team-high 14 kills.

Marist will conclude the 2014-15 season with matches against Saint Peter's at noon Nov. 15 and Rider at 1 p.m. Nov. 16.
