Marist Graduate Terrence Fede Blocks Punt To Give Miami Victory

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Marist graduate Terrence Fede blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety with 41 seconds to play, giving the Miami Dolphins the winning score in their 37-35 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The blocked kick was Fede's first in his NFL career. Fede made his NFL debut on Sept. 28 against the Oakland Raiders, and has appeared in 10 games this season. He had a total of 10 tackles (eight solo), and one sack, which occurred against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 26.

Fede was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round with 234th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was the first Marist football player to be taken in the draft, and the first to appear in an NFL game. Fede graduated Marist as the program's all-time and single-season leader in sacks. In 2013, he was Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the best defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.

In his Marist career, Fede blocked three kicks. All were field goals – one in the 2009 season, one in 2011 and one in 2012.
